Today's episode features the incredible Mary Borman aka: Mary the Mermaid. In this awe-inspiring conversation, Mary, a 24-year-old Special Olympic swimmer with Down syndrome, self-advocate, and model, joins us to share her remarkable journey and advocacy work for people with disabilities.
Mary Borman is a 24 year old Special Olympic gold medal swimmer who happens happens to have Down syndrome. She has competed all over the world in global swimming competitions. Mary is also the first person with Down syndrome to model in the NWA Fashion week and will walk again this season for two designers. She is a self advocate and has traveled to Capitol Hill to fight for the rights of all people with disabilities. She was involved in helping to pass the ABLE Act and is now advocating for better government benefits.
